🍺 BAC Calculator
Estimate blood alcohol concentration from drinks
How BAC Estimation Works
Formula
BAC = (Alcohol in grams / (Body weight in grams × r)) − (0.015 × hours)
- 1Enter the number and type of drinks consumed.
- 2Enter your weight and select your gender.
- 3The calculator estimates total alcohol consumed in grams.
- 4The Widmark formula calculates BAC using body water ratio (r).
- 5Time-based metabolism (0.015% per hour) is subtracted.

Frequently Asked Questions
What BAC is legally drunk?
In most US states, 0.08% BAC is the legal limit for driving. However, impairment begins at much lower levels. Some countries use 0.05% or even 0.00% limits.
How long does it take to sober up?
Your body metabolizes alcohol at roughly 0.015% BAC per hour. From a BAC of 0.08%, it takes about 5.3 hours to reach 0.00%. Coffee, food, and water do not speed this up.
Is this calculator accurate?
BAC calculators provide rough estimates for educational purposes. Actual BAC depends on many factors including food intake, medications, liver health, and individual metabolism. Never rely on a calculator to determine if you're safe to drive.
